DescriptionThe facade of Knoxville granite is complete as high as the second story cornice. The building is surrounded by construction equipment and materials, including cranes, steel beams or girders, piles of cut stone and bricks. Scaffolding and an awning surround the front entrance the front, apparently for work on the tympanum above the door. A sign at left reads: "Fire Proofing /wire Lathing / White / Fireproof Construction Co. / 1 Madison Ave." The Colt Memorial and the Wadsworth Atheneum are at the left, partially hidden by trees. There is a fire hydrant on the sidewalk in the foreground and trolley tracks and what appears to be horse manure in the street.
NotesSubject Note: The Morgan Memorial was designed by the New York firm La Farge & Morris. The partners in the firm were Christopher Grant La Farge and Benjamin Wistar Morris.
