DescriptionInfant girl's long, white baptismal dress. It is constructed with a yoke of eyelet embroidery across the front and back. The neckline is high and round, and edged with a ruffle of delicate eyelet. The long sleeves are straight; the wrist openings are edged with the same eyelet used at the neckline. The skirt is closely gathered into the yoke. It is decorated above the hem with a band of eyelet embroidery in a design of joined hexagons flanked by daisy-like flowers. The hem is 3 1/2 inches deep, headed by pulled threadwork. The center back opening is about eleven inches long. Three sets of opposing buttonholes suggest that it was closed either by studs or ribbon ties.
