DescriptionShiny black or dark brown leather, side-lacing, ankle-high boots (or "bottines"). The toe is a narrow, rounded-off square and the sole is straight. The stacked heel is 1/2-inch high. The upper is stitched with a center back seam, and cut with one side piece the width of the center back to the lacing, and one piece that continues from the back seam on the opposite side, over the top of the foot, with a gusset set into the top to create the curve for the ankle. The upper is lined with white twill-woven cotton, which is also the fabric of the sock lining. It is bound with black silk and cotton tape. There is one black cotton shoe string with a brass tip laced through nine pairs of eyelets on each boot. The lacing is backed with an unlined leather tongue.
