DescriptionA man and a woman are in the interior of a room, facing away from each other. The woman is seated at the left in an upholstered armchair. She wears a dress with eyelet trim and a lace veil or mantilla and flowers in her hair. She wears a bracelet on her left wrist. The man stands at the right. He wears a coat vest, shirt, trousers, and necktie. He has a beard. He is looking at a small cased portrait of a woman, a miniature, or possibly a daguerreotype, which rests beside a top hat on a table covered with a printed tablecloth. A patterned drape is in the left background, and patterned wallpaper is on the wall in the right background.
