DescriptionGroup of men in band uniforms pose on the steps of a large frame building, possibly a hotel. Most have beards or mustaches. Uniforms consist of coats with gold braid and caps. Instruments include cornets and other brass instruments. A drum is inscribed "Hartford / Cornet / Band." Two large lamps or lanterns are above and beside the door.
NotesDate Note: The last contemporary reference the Hartford Cornet Band in the Hartford Courant occurred in 1872. The photograph was probably taken about that date. The band was popular in the 1860s and played for Abraham Lincoln when he visited Hartford during the 1860 Presidential campaign.
