DescriptionA boy and a girl stand in a porch or gazebo. The girl wears a dress trimmed with bows, an apron, pantaloons trimmed with lace, stockings, and slippers. The boy wears a short jacket with a broad collar and bow, trowsers, and low shoes. They are holding hands. The floor of the gazebo is tiled in a checkerboard pattern. A flowering vine, probably a rose, grows on the trelliswork in the gothic supports at the corners. A gothic birdcage containing a yellow bird hangs at the left. A bench is at the right. A grassy lawn, bushes, trees, a lake, and a stone stairway or bridge are in the left background.
