DescriptionComplex of one and two-story frame industrial buildings, one with a tall smokestack. A freight elevator, raised by a block and tackle, is positioned at a second-story window. Two ox teams, one of them hitched to a two-wheeled cart, are nearby. To the left are two horse-drawn carriages. Men, most of them wearing straw hats, stand near the vehicles. A stick style house is in the left background. A picket fence surrounds a yard at right. A field or meadow with a fruit tree in it and a rail fence is at far right.
NotesSubject Note: Waterpower for operating machinery was obtained from Judd Brook. Levi B. Frost and his son Ira S. Frost operated a blacksmith shop before embarking in the bolt business in 1842. The firm, known as L.B. Frost & Son; Frost, Moss & Co., Frost & Sons; and Frost Brothers, continued manufacturing nuts and bolts until ca. 1900.
