DescriptionAlbum containing 70 photographs, including views of downtown West Hartford and Hartford, primarily during the 1930s and 1940s. A few views are later. Included are views of Main Street, West Hartford; Catherine Street, Hartford; Bushnell Park; Hartford Hospital; Hartford Public High School; the Fox Poli Theater; and several panoramic aerial views of Hartford taken from a blimp. Other photographs include the Hartford Canoe Club; Pratt & Whitney Aircraft in East Hartford, surrounded by tobacco fields; the Connecticut State Prison, Wethersfield. Igor Sikorsky and Governor Trumbull are shown in an autogyro at Brainard Field. Other photographs include Bat Batalino, Kid Kaplan, Governor Wilbur Cross, Eleanor Roosevelt and Franklin Delano Roosevelt. Calvin Coolidge is shown at the McLean Game Refuge in Simsbury. The Home Guard is shown training at Colt Park during World War II. Several photographs are of a Hartford baseball team. Other photographs are of the steamship Hartford and her captain.
