DescriptionIndustrial clapboard complex of clapboard and masonry buildings with skylights, smokestack and center tower with large cupola and weathervane. On right is one and a half story Second Empire house which appears to belong to the complex. A horse and wagon is in street near trees and a utility pole. In foreground is the Hockanum River, rail and picket fences, stone retaining wall and wooden foot bridge.
NotesSubject Note: Established in 1809 and incorporated in 1836, the Hockanum Company Mills were located at 196 West Street in Rockville, on the Hockanum River. They manufactured fine worsted and woolen textiles, specializing in "cassimeres" [sic cashmere?]
