DescriptionAlbum containing 64 gelatin silver prints, chiefly of equipment, employees, and products of Pratt & Whitney Machine Tool Company. Machinery includes several views of a Keller machine, used for duplicating parts; a lathe; a drill press; a grinding machine; a milling machine; a laser measuring device; and details of the punch card operating system used in the 1950s and 1960s. Most employees are men, but a few women employees are included. One man is wearing shattered safety glasses. Products include engines, a fuel cell, an aircraft propeller blade, and a bearing. Other subjects, not related to Pratt & Whitney, include a pilot (Dave Kite) in the Air National Guard in the cockpit of an F-94 aircraft; Governor Abraham Ribicoff and others in front of the Connecticut State Capitol; religious subjects staged and photographed at the Hold Family Retreat House in West Hartford; a man filling out a 1955 income tax return; a female medical technician on an airplane during the Vietnam War; several Colt revolvers; and advertising photographs, including a woman wearing a fur stole. Also included are several letters to the photographer, Arthur J. Kiely, and a copy of his resume.
