DescriptionBrick industrial factory complex with smokestack, tower, cupola and American flag on corner of Trumbull and Jewell Streets at bridge over Park River with turned post and wire fence. Ivy on first story is behind picket fence, utility poles, electric light, and utility box (or call box). Awnings are on left side of building. Two bicycles are on sidewalk near man with wagon drawn by team of horses and two people walking. Man in hat is at front door and people are at front windows. Signs on buildings "P. Jewell & Sons" and "Jewell Belting Co."
NotesSubject Note: Pliny Jewell, a tanner, established in 1848, chartered 1880, organized in 1883, the Jewell Belting Co. at 15 Trumbull Street and Hicks Avenue. The company produced leather belting for heavy machinery.
