DescriptionFormal studio portraits and amateur snapshots of Hilda Keller ranging in age from infant to old age. In several of the studio portraits she is sitting or standing on a chair and in one she is posing with a harp. One shows her dressed as a bridesmaid. Several show her with her hair in braids when she is older. Many of the amatuer snapshots are taken outdoors, two show her in what is now Pope Park in Hartford, Connecticut. One shows her on the steps of the seminary library on Broad Street in Hartford, Connecticut. In several photographs she is in her Red Cross uniform. Two photographs show her in working at The Department of Motor Vehicles office. Two of the photographs are passport photos.
NotesSubject Note: Hilda Monteith Keller, the daughter of the Hartford architect George Keller and Mary Monteith Smith Keller, was born in Hartford, Connecticut on July 30, 1888. Hilda graduated from Hartford High School and volunteered for the Red Cross during World War I. She later worked as an administrative assistant for the Institute for Living in Hartford and then for the Motor Vehicle Department. She never married. She lived in the family's Park Terrace home in Hartford, Connecticut until 1955 when she went to live with her brother, Walter in Coventry, Connecticut. She died at Crestfield Nursing home in Manchester, Connecticut in on February 11, 1978.
