DescriptionFormal studio portrait and amateur snapshots of George and Mary Keller. In all photographs George is wearing a suit and tie and Mary is wearing a dress. In several pictures they are wearing or holding hats. The amateur snapshots were all taken outside, in a park, at a resevoir, or in a yard. Several photographs include other people, not relatives.
NotesSubject Note: George and Mary Keller met on Christmas Eve in 1886 at the Paris home of George Lincoln, a friend of George Keller's from Hartford, Connecticut. George was an architect who had come to Europe to study and consult with stained-glass and mosaic designers for work he was doing for the Garfield Memorial in Cleveland, Ohio. Mary was from a family in Scotland, but was studying art in Paris. They married in 1887 at the Free Church of Scotland in Edinburgh. The Kellers lived in Hartford, Connecticut, primarily on Park Terrace, and had a summer home in Norfolk, Connecticut. They had three children, Hilda, George, and Walter.
