DescriptionLarge crowd of men, women and boys in front of the Pope Manufacturing Company. All wear hats or caps. A few people in the foreground have bicycles. A carriage drawn by two horses and driven by a man in a top hat tries to make its way through the crowd. Band uniforms and instruments are barely visible in the background near a small building, perhaps a guard house. The building at left has round-arched windows, classical moldings and a small porch with Ionic columns. Awnings are on all windows. A second large industrial building, partially covered with ivy, is at the right.
NotesSubject Note: In 1905, Harris L. Burr was assistant credit manager at the Pope Manufacturing Co. In 1905, the Pope Manufacturing Co., located at 436 Capitol Avenue, manufactured Pope Hartford automobiles, Pope bicycles and motorcycles.
