DescriptionGroup of men and boys stand around an electric trolley car. Men wear suits and hats. The man in uniform at the right is presumably the conductor. Most men have mustaches. Signs on the trolley read: "Main St. & Wethersfield Avenue" "50" "H. & W.H.R.R.Co." A young man behind the trolley has a high wheel bicycle. Notes on back: "June 1888 / On the left, standing on the ground Jim Cahill, Jim Goodrich, John Crilly / On the rear of the car / Frank Stewart (with straw hat) Jake Eberley [sic] - conductor." "1889."
NotesSubject Note: This photograph formerly hung in Honiss Oyster House, State Street, Hartford. Jacob Eberle is listed as a conductor in the 1888 and 1889 Hartford city directories. John A. Crilly, foreman for the Wethersfield Avenue horse cars, was later an adjuster for the Hartford Street Railway Co.
