DescriptionTwo-story brick building with a porch supported by fluted Doric columns and a one-story addition at the left. An oval window is in the front gable. A sign over the door reads: "The Capewell Horse Nail Co." Additional signs at right read: "Capewell / Horse Nail Co." "Positively No Admittance." Utility poles and wires are at right. A picket fence surrounds the building. Paved sidewalks are in front of and beside it.
NotesSubject Note: The main offices of the Capewell Horse Nail Company were located at 36-84 Governor Street, Hartford, at the corner of Charter Oak Avenue. In 1910, branches were located in twelve cities throughout the United States and in Toronto, Canada, Mexico City, and Yokohama, Japan. The Toronto branch was located at 54 Duke Street. This photograph probably shows the Toronto branch.
