DescriptionA view looking to the north from a height of one mile, over Simsbury. This view shows a large extent of the country, and well illustrates the difference in appearance between forest, meadow and plowed land. The Farmington river loiters through the valley, reflecting the trees upon its banks and is joined by a singularly twisted brook. The N.H. & N. railroad and H. & C.W. railroad lie parallel through this view, to their point of separation at the top. / These are the first and only successful views ever taken from a balloon.
