DescriptionDriver in uniform and passengers in electric bus parked at the side of a New York City street. All of the women wear elaborate hats. One woman wears a veil. A second uniformed man sits behind the driver. Signs on the side of the vehicle read: "No. 6" "Green Car Sight Seeing Service / B'way & 23rd St. / Hotel Bartholdi." Inscribed on back: "Back row (4 women R-L) Anna Burns, Alice and Agnes (best friends of Burns) / Dungan, Mary Burns (twin sister of Anna) on annual trip/ to NYC over Labor Day weekend. $10.00 each per room, meals & transportation. Circa 1905-10 (They would have been 19-23)."
NotesSubject Note: Anna and Mary Burns were both stenographers who worked at the Electric Vehicle Co., 1 Laurel Street, Hartford. They lived together at 27 Irving Street. Agnes and Alice Dungan were also stenographers at the Electric Vehicle Co. they lived at 78 Morris Street.
