DescriptionViews of the Old State House in downtown Hartford, Connecticut, at the corner of Main Street and State Street. All photographs show the west facade of the Old State House with trees in front of it. Some include automobile and trolley traffic on the streets and pedestrians on the sidewalks and crossing in crosswalks. The Isle of Safety, a bus/trolley stop appears in some photographs. Travelers Tower, the Hartford-Connecticut Trust Company Building, and other buildings appear in some photographs. Electric street lights are prominent in some photographs. The Connecticut River appears in the background of one photograph, which was taken from an elevated viewpoint.
NotesDate Note: A duplicate of one of the photographs was dated 1936. All of the photographs appear to have been taken about the same time, probably on the same day. The individual prints were made by Meyers Studio at different points in time, probably ranging from the 1930s to the late 1990s or early 2000s.
