Booths and electric lights are visible through the large plate glass windows. An automobile is on the street in front of the restaurant. An industrial building and a large leafless tree, apparently an elm, are in the background.

NotesDate Note: The Washington Diner opened in 1946 at 175 Washington Street, near the corner of Park Street. At that time, it was housed in a traditional diner, resembling a railroad car. The building and sign in this photograph appear in a picture of the restaurant that was published in the Hartford Courant in 1965.
