DescriptionViews of the Connecticut State Capitol include general exterior views taken from Bushnell Park and from Capitol Avenue with the Petersburg Express in the foreground. Some photographs include flags and automobiles. One includes an excavation which may relate to the construction of Interstate 84 and its access ramps. Several are details of the gold dome on top of the Capitol. One of these includes a man reading a newspaper in the foreground. One photograph is a detail of a pedimental sculpture showing the Charter Oak. In one photograph there is snow on the ground.

Subject Note: The Petersburg Express is a mortar that was used by the First Connecticut Heavy Artillery during the siege of Petersburg, Virginia in the Civil War. It was erected as a war memorial on the Capitol grounds in 1895.On View
