DescriptionThree photographs show the buildings of three Harford Insurance companies: the Hartford Fire Insurance Company (later part of The Hartford), the Northeastern Insurance Company, and the Phoenix Mutual Insurance Company. The old Phoenix building is a brick office building in the Richardsonian Romanesque style. The other two buildings are classical in style. The Hartford Fire Insurance Company building has an Ionic portico and a dome. The Northeastern Insurance Company has monumental Corinthian half-columns framing its entance and a sculptural group on its roof. Some photographs include automobiles, grassy lawns, and ornamental plantings. One photograph includes a chain link fence. The photograph of the Hartford Fire Insurance building includes construction materials and what appears to be a telescope, transit, or theodolite.
