DescriptionFamily in front of two-story, three-bay brick Federal style house. Man with mustache sits with child on lap. A boy in jacket, vest, watch chain and hat stands behind him beside a woman in apron carrying a broom. At their right is woman sitting in chair holding infant. Seated on ground to the right is girl wearing apron with hat in lap and bearded man with dog. Behind them on right is man with pole standing next to two yoked oxen. A picket fence is in front of house. Front door has glass sidelights and fan window. A fan window is in front gable. A large vertical sided barn is in right background. Three trees in front of house, two are tall evergreen trees. Inscription on back: "Geo. Belden" "Winsted"
NotesConstituent Note: Some photographs in this collection bear the imprint of the Northern Survey Company.Subject Note: Although the inscription gives the location as Winsted, the house is actually on Saw Mill Hill Road, in the Newfield section of Torrington.
