DescriptionMen, boys and a young woman sit at school desks reading books or writing on sheets of paper. Most of the men and boys wear suits. One wears a turtleneck jersey. Electric light bulbs with shades hang from the ceiling on wires. Exposed pipes are visible in the back corner of the classroom near the door.
NotesSubject Note: The Hillyer Institute was the Educational Department of the Hartford YMCA. The YMCA was located at 315-323 Pearl Street, at the corner of Jewell Street.
