DescriptionFour young men sit at desks with typewriters in front of them. Three additional young men are seated at a long table in bentwood chairs. All are wearing suits, some with very visible celluloid collars. Books are on the tables, papers on the desks. Electric light bulbs with shades hang from the ceiling on wires. A chandelier also holds electric light bulbs. A woman, probably the teacher, stands in front of the window.
NotesSubject Note: The Hillyer Institute was the Educational Department of the Hartford YMCA. The YMCA was located at 315-323 Pearl Street, at the corner of Jewell Street.
