DescriptionSnow covered street scene showing Unionville at the junction of Farmington Avenue and Main Street, taken from the hill immediately to the north of Farmington Avenue. In the foreground on the left is a store that is plastered with large posters. To the right is an open building, possibly a stable. To the right of that is the three story "MacDonald House" with full width porch and hip roof at the intersection. The next street has several multistoried buildings that include (right to left) a stable, a barbershop and other storefronts. The Farmington River is in the background and several buildings on the opposite shore are visible. To the right are two tall smokestacks, the tallest being near the river just behind a building with a cupola of the Union Nut Company. Inscription on back: "Unionville CT."

NotesConstituent Note: Some photographs in this collection bear the imprint of the Northern Survey Company. Subject Note: MacDonald House was a hotel and stable owned by J. A. McDonald from 1884 to 1888. Its prior name was Tunxis House and Tunxis Stable. The photograph was taken was from the hill that would later be the site of Suburban Park.
