DescriptionMan in overalls, woman holding a straw hat and small child on a rocking horse in front of a two-story, Greek revival house. An addition at the side has vines growing on it and connects to a barn and other outbuildings. There is a picket fence at the left and fruit trees, possible apple trees, in the side yard.

Soper's occupation is given as "Teacher" in both the 1870 and 1900 Federal Census. In 1900, he and his family were no longer living in Windsor Locks and had moved to Bloomfield.
