DescriptionWoman's white cotton nightgown, with shawl collar of two-inch-wide machine-made lace in a diamond pattern. The center front is filled with a panel of self-fabric alternating with insertion strips of the lace. The nightgown opens along the proper left side of this panel, and fastens with four small mother of pearl buttons hidden under the lace along the side. The collar forms a point at center back. The back of the nightgown is pleated between the shoulders up to the neckline. The shoulder seam is inserted with machine-made faggoting. The sleeves are very full and are gathered into the shoulders and into a cuff at the wrist. This cuff consists mainly of the lace with mitered corners to form a rectangle. Pink silk ribbons are attached to the outside of the cuffs and at the top of the nightgown opening. The seams are narrow, and flat-felled. The hem is two inches deep.
