DescriptionView of the village of Old Well, later South Norwalk, from the east side of the Norwalk River. A steamboat and a sailing vessel lie at the wharves on the left. A square church tower is in the center of the composition and houses and other buildings line the waterfront. Smoke rise from the smokestack of the steamboat and from the chimneys of the three industrial buildings in the town. Two men launch a rowboat in the right foreground.
