DescriptionHuge rocks surrounded by trees. Two men stand at the foot of the rocks; a third man, probably a self-portrait of the artist sketching, is seated atop the left hand rock.
NotesSubject Note: Preliminary work for Connecticut Historical Collections, John Warner Barber, New Haven, 1836. From 1661 to 1664, the Judges Cave was the hiding place of the Regicides Goffe and Whalley, who sentenced King Charles I of England to death.
