DescriptionA small boy with his hands folded in prayer and wearing a nightgown kneels beside an upholstered stool, facing left. A patterned carpet is on the floor. Fringed drapery and a ornamental door frame are in the background.
NotesSource Note: The visual source for this print is an oil painting by Sir Joshua Reynolds entitled The Infant Samuel, depicting the Old Testament prophet Samuel as a child. The Kelloggs would have known this painting through an intermediary such as J.W. Reynolds' 1820 mezzotint engraving of it. (Finlay 6/7/2002)
