DescriptionPerspectival panorama drawing of the buildings on Main and Church Streets in downtown Hartford, Connecticut, with Christ Church Cathedral in the center. Only the silhouettes of the buildings are shown; there is no detail. On Main Street, the buildings depicted include G. Fox & Co., Cheney Block, Sage-Allen, the Hartford-Connecticut Trust Company Building and Travelers Tower on the east side of the street. On the west side in the distance is the outline of the Connecticut National Bank, what is possibly the Hartford-Aetna Bank Building, what is possibly Kresge's, and the American Airlines Building (now 915 Main Street). On Church Street, Christ Church Cathedral fills most of the block, with one small building in the distance, at the corner of Trumbull Street. On the other side, the boxy Hartford Stage Company building sits near the corner of Trumbull, with the Sheraton Hotel (now the Hilton) visible behind it. The skywalk between the hotel and what was then the Civic Center (subsequently the XL Center) is visible at the end of Church Street, with another, unidentified building behind it.
NotesDate Note: The early date is based on the year Connecticut National Bank was built, and the late one is based on the year the Hartford-Aetna Bank Building was demolished.
