DescriptionA political campaign poster for the presidential and vice-presidential campaign of 1848. Bust-length portaits of two men, both wearing costs, vests, ties, and shirts, are framed by oval medallions with borders of laurel leaves linked by a bow. The medallions are inscribed: "Z. TAYLOR." "M. FILLMORE." Above the portraits, an eagle stands on a globe. Four American flags on staffs are below. The rays of the sun and twenty-three stars are behind the eagle. Below the portrait are two cornucopias. Shocks of wheat, corn, pumpkins, and other vegetables, bales, boxes, and what appear to be bolts of cloth spill from each cornucopia. In the left distance is a railroad train and a city on a harbor or river. In the right distance is a ship under construction on the ways; additional vessels are in the water in the background. Fringed draperies with cords and tassels frame the upper portion of the image. Medallions with stars and braid frame the lower portion of the image.
