DescriptionView of the buildings in the center of Tolland. A road with a row of trees and a stone walkway down its middle is lined with white buildings and fencing. The first building on the left is the Tolland County "Bank." On its side stands the "Court House" and Col. Elijah "Smith's Tavern." Further down the road is the "Baptist Ch[urch]" with a "Post office" in the basement. Another tavern sign is evident on the right side of the street marking a tavern to which the jail is attached. A detail of this area can be seen in the upper corner. A note in the lower left reads "center turnpike to Boston."
