DescriptionView of Avon from Talcott Mountain, looking West. The road running obliquely from the left corner is the Albany Post Road, later Route 44. The large church with a spire is the Congregational Church and is so labeled. A building to its left, without a steeple, is labeled "Baptist Ch[urch." A third building is labeled "Canal House." The [Farmington "Canal" and the "Farmington R[iver" are also indicated but not clearly visible. A figure of the man in the foreground is probably a self-portrait of the artist sketching
