DescriptionDistant view of Jewett City across "sandy" fields separated by "Virginia fence[s." "Rye" is growing in one of the fields. Industrial buildings and houses are densely clustered in the background. Three buildings are labeled "factory," one "church" and one "tavern." The factories are cotton mills. Jewett City, in the township of Griswold, was incorporated in 1895
