DescriptionA group of mostly middle-aged men pose in a grassy field. The four men in the front row are seated cross-legged on the ground. The three men in the center row sit in chairs with their arms crossed. The six men in the back row are standing. Some men have mustaches. Some wear shirts and neckties; others wear jerseys. All wear tight pants and gaiters. One man holds a Stetson hat. One man appears to be smoking a cigar or cigarette. A dirt road or driveway, a rail fence, and large trees are in the background.
NotesSubject Note: The men appear to be part of some kind of athletic club, possibly a bicycle club. The tight pants and gaiters that all of them are wearing were favored by bicyclists at the end of the nineteenth century. (Finlay 3/14/2014)
