Label TextA movement began in 1930, led by the Connecticut State Grange, to improve Connecticut rural roads. Spring thaws and rains made the dirt roads almost impassable with the ruts and holes that developed.
The "Dirt Road Bill" was approved by the State Legislature in 1932 providing money to towns to improve the roads. It was left to local selectmen to determine which roads would be improved. This plaque promoting the road improvement campaign could be attached to an automobile.
