DescriptionFamily group consisting of a mother and two children pose in the interior of a house. The woman is seated on a bench with a cushion beside a table with a tablecloth. She wears a loose jacket tied with a bow over a long gown and holds a glass or crystal plate of buns or cookies. One child, probably a boy, wearing a dress and pantaloons stands on the cushion behind his mother and offers food to a dog, probably a greyhound or whippet, seated at the left. The dog wears a collar with a buckle. A second child, probably a girl, wearing a dress with a sash leans on her mother's lap. Flowers, apparently tulips, are in a Chinese vase on the mantle of a fireplace in the right background. An oil painting of a landscape in a wide gilt frame hangs from the paneled wall in the left background.
