Description[Portrait painted in an oval on a rectangular canvas of an older man with long white flowing hair, wearing a reddish brown coat open at front and showing a bit of light colored lining at the neck, black vest and white stock. At bottom of picture in lighter gray panel is the inscription "John Phillips Eqr. L.L.D." background of oval dark brown, of rectangle gray with lighter gray border. Simple wooden frame with narrow gilt edge.]
