DescriptionScene in a farmyard with four men, a woman, a girl, and over twenty-five animals. On the left, a man wearing a long jacket or smock and a cap pours water from a wooden bucket into a watering trough made from a log. A well with a wellsweep is immediately to the left. Three cows and a calf stand nearby. Ducks swim in a pond in the left foreground. A turkey and chickens approach a girl and a woman who appear to be feeding them. A dog, a rooster, another chicken, and a wheelbarrow are at the right. Behind them, a man uses a brush or curry comb to curry a horse wearing a halter. Another man, wearing a suit and a top hat and holding a coil of rope, stands in the door of a thatch-roofed barn. Another man leads another horse out a barn door in the background. A cart loaded with hay is immediately behind, near a dog, a dog house, and a large birdhouse or dovecote with doves or pigeons flying around it. A board fence with a picket gate is in the background. An outbuilding, probably a shed, a ladder, a barrel, a pile of hay, more chickens, and pigs are in the left background.
