DescriptionThree horses stand in an open wooden shed attached to a brick building, probably a barn. A donkey stands facing them at the left. Four ducks are nearby. Straw is on the floor of the shed and a plaid horse blanket hangs from the wall. Snow is on the ground and on the roofs.
NotesSource Note: The composition is derived from a painting by John Frederick Herring I (1795-1865), which was published as a aquatint in 1847 by Henry Graves & Co. The Kellogg print is presumably based on the aquatint and not on the original painting itself. (Shortell, 2/10/2003)
