DescriptionIn the interior of a room, a monkey wearing a cap with a feather sits on stump which is partially covered with a cloth. In his left paw he holds a scale in which there appears to be a piece of food. He holds a piece of the same substance in his right paw. Two striped tabby cats face him at the left. One sits with its right paw raised. The other stands on a board with its back arched. A large pitcher is between the cats and the monkey. A candlestick and a broken candle lie on the board at the far left. A dish, apparently containing milk, and a bottle with a cork are in the left foreground. A small window is in the back wall.
