DescriptionWorld War I Victory Flag that consists of a hand painted scene on a single piece of white silk. There is a thick blue border that goes along the outside of the flag with a thinner red border inside of it separated by a thin section of the white silk. In the center of the flag there is a scene depicting an American bald eagle sitting on a shield of the United States and facing, with wings outstretched, towards the fly end of the flag. The shield consists of 13 alternating red and white vertical stripes with a blue section above them containing 13 five pointed white stars. Coming off the left side of the shield on a gold colored pole is a small flag of Italy. Opposite it on the right side of the shield on a gold colored pole is a small flag of France. To the left of the eagle there is a large flag of the United Kingdom on a gold pole. To the right of the eagle there is a large flag of the United States containing 48 stars and 13 red and white stripes. The eagle is holding a very small flag of Germany in its beak. Above the eagle’s wings is the dome of the U. S. Capitol with six light blue rays coming off of it. Painted in blue above the eagle and the Capitol is the word "Victory". The flag is attached to a wooden flag pole by small nails.
