DescriptionSaxony flax spinning wheel, with one wheel support in back. Stained brown and varnished. The front face of the wheel is smooth; the back face has one deep groove near the inside. The wheel stands 33 inches from floor. It contains twelve spokes; the rim consists of four pieces. The bobbin and flyer have circular lines; the flyer has one broken end, and the other end has ten metal hooks. There is a wooden tensioner on the table end; the table has four legs. There are fine finials on the ends of the uprights. The distaff is 1 1/2 feet higher than the wheel and is complete with flax hanging by string. The mother-of-all is complete with two maidens. There is one wooden bobbin, a wooden footman, and a wooden treadle. This is possibly a Shaker-built wheel.
