DescriptionView of a horse hitched to a two-wheeled cart standing in the road at a street corner in France. There are two large rectangular baskets secured to the back of the cart, and the rest of it is filled with large sacks. There appears to be a woman wearing a bonnet sitting at the front of the cart, holding the reigns. The horse and cart are in front of a tall building on the corner that has awnings that extend over the sidewalk. The road and buildings extend away from the corner to the right and left. The street is paved with bricks.
NotesAccording to cataloging worksheet in object file, this photo was taken in France during the vacation of Horace Bushnell Cheney (1868-1936) and his wife Mary Pierson Cheney (1874-1949).
