DescriptionView of a group of men, women and children having a picnic in a clearing in the woods in Keene Valley, New York. There are five women, all sitting on the ground in a somewhat circular pattern. The one furthest to the right is Mary Pierson Cheney. There are two boys sitting on the ground behind and to the left of the women, and two more to the right. A boy and two men, both drinking out of mugs or tea cups, stand behind the group of women. There are napkins and dishes scattered around. A thick row of trees lines the clearing in the background.
