DescriptionRed silk Revolutionary War flag of the 2nd Battalion 2nd Connecticut Regiment. Painted in gold lettering on the front of the flag is, "II. BAT: / II. REG: / CONNECTICUT/ Raised 1640". The reverse side of the flag contains the seal of Connecticut with the scroll, vines and outer edge painted in gold, and the inner edge of the shield and ribbon painted in blue. The seal contains three gold painted grape vines with two of the vines in the upper portion of the seal and the third vine centered below the other two vines. At the bottom of the seal in gold lettering is the phrase, "QUI TRAN: SUST:" the abbreviated Connecticut state motto of "Qui Transtulit Sustinet".

Historical Note: This flag of the 2nd Battalion, 2nd Connecticut Regiment, may have been carried in the American Revolution. It is the oldest Connecticut Infantry Color still in existence.
