DescriptionA group of men and boys is gathered on the edge of a lake in Keene Valley, New York. It is probably Round Pond. There is a pile of driftwood caought near the shore. One young man lays on his belly on the pile, looking down into the water, while two men crouch in the water in front of him, also looking down. To their right, Roger Williams Cheney balances on a log and holds a canoe paddle. A young man to his right reaches out his left hand behind Roger's back, to catch or steady him. The young man is holding a fishing net in his right hand. In the background, a man is standing on the floating driftwood and holding a very long wooden pole or branch.
