DescriptionThe cupola and upper stories of the Aetna Insurance Company are seen beyond the rooftops of other, lower buildings, partially screened by leafless trees. The tower is lit from within by electric lights and there also appear to be floodlights on the building. Pink light in the background appears to be reflected from clouds in the sky.
NotesSubject Note: The home office of the Aetna Life Insurance Company on Farmington Avenue in Hartford, Connecticut was designed by James Gamble Rogers and completed in 1931. It is one of the largest examples of Colonial Revival architecture in existence.Date Note: Acryllic artists' paints were introduced in the 1950s and became widely available in the 1960s. Therefore this painting must date from the latter part of the twentieth century.
